I learned many years ago about gelatin. I remember being a vegetarian since I was very young and I would always eat things like gummy bears and marshmallows. It wasn’t until someone informed me what it was that I was completely grossed out by it. For anyone who DOES NOT know. Gelatin is derived from the skin, ligaments, and bone from animals. YUCK.

So does that mean you have to eliminate SMORES????? HECK NO! As I am making the transition from vegetarian to vegan, I am learning more and more about how many alternatives there are. So I heard about Sweet and Sara Vegan Marshmallows. You can check them out here.

Okay, they are pretty pricey however I rather pay 7 dollars for 18 vegan marshmallows than $2 and chew away on bones and ligaments. JUST SAYIN! And buying them one or two times a year isn’t bad right? Marshmallows by the camp fire is a much needed experience for every summer.

I picked up my Sweet and Sara marshmallows at whole foods. They had different varieties but I got the vanilla flavored.

Ingredients: corn syrup, cane sugar*, water, corn dextrose, corn starch, carrageenan, acacia, pure vanilla extract, soy protein, locust bean gum, organic confectioner’s sugar, sea salt.

They were amazing. I was worried about them because they look like little cubes of tofu however they melt just like a normal marshmallow. I really can’t find anything wrong with this product besides the fact that they are expensive.
